Accessories are more important than before, according to Nelson Chan of The Swank Shop, and there are better choices of hats, scarves, christian louboutin shoes and the like.
”Boots are a must for this season,” he said.
Joyce’s Mark Prendergrast agreed. ”Boots really fit in with the ready-to-wear, which is a very tough, work-wear look,” he said. ”There are a lot of boots with thick, heavy soles.”
Versace, for example, favours boots with working-class and heavy waterproof christian louboutin with thick soles to balance strong tweeds.
Designer Hedi Raikamo has combined a leather christian louboutin sale with wool knit on the boot.
Various shades of brown dominate the colour palette, with a strong presence of other earthy tones such as olive, cedar and forest.
For belts, again the key factor is the use of different leather textures.
”There are a lot of woven belts, which you can add to a plain suit to make it more interesting,” Mr Prendergrast said.
Many accessories were linked with a strong military look this season, Mr Chan said.
These include waist bags,louboutin, captain’s belts with leather braces and backpacks, often made of sheepskin.
”Knitwear and sheepskin are very strong this season,” he said.
Most scarves are in subtle shades.
christia ’s Adeline Wong said: ”We have jewel tones this year, like burgundy, but they are more subdued for men.”
D&G Boutique has earth-toned scarves and there are also lots of stripes.
Neck fashion loosens up, as relaxed ascots and casually knotted kerchiefs replace the never-say-die tie and provide a dash of collar colour.
Ms Wong said: ”They tuck into a shirt or under a sweater and it’s very gentlemanly. They also go well with a causal wool waistcoat.”
Ties this season are wider and loosely knotted. They are also richly coloured, but the finish is more important.
”Quite a few collections use hand-painted instead of the usual printed silk,” Mr Chan said.
